Encouraged by Dr. Harris, renown archaeologist and Director of the Maritime Museum in Bermuda, culture & development captures the social, environmental and economic value of heritage assets on the islands. It aims to disclose the interest of Bermudian Society in heritage and provides local authorities with essential evidence and directions to adopt public funding strategies.
The study challenges current understanding of heritage appraisals and attachment and provides information about methods to reveal subaltern value, hidden places and images. Away from a canonical gaze, the project encourages the heritage enterprise to open up their senses to differences. Twain once said about Wagner: If you listen with a different ear it’s not as bad as it seems.
